Find It on the No Worries Club: An Exercise for a Hard-to-Bridle Horse

NWCfind

Ever dealt with a horse that throws his head up when you go to bridle him or tosses his head out of reach when you try to put the halter on him? If so, you’re not alone! When he went to his first horsemanship clinic in Australia, Clinton borrowed a friend’s horse to ride and dealt with the same issue each time he tried to bridle the gelding he was using for the clinic. Gordon McKinlay was teaching the clinic, and when he noticed the trouble Clinton was having, he taught the teenager a handy exercise for teaching a horse to lower his head. Clinton details the exercise in the summer 2011 No Worries Journal article, “Touch and Rub: Poll.”
